A game stick setup should take you from the box to the first menu without guesswork. Start with a free HDMI input, stable USB power, the wireless receiver, and fresh batteries for the controllers. The sequence below also makes it much easier to identify the cause if the screen stays blank or a controller does not respond.
Before you connect anything
- Check that the TV or monitor has an available HDMI input and note its input label.
- Have a stable USB power source ready. If the device repeatedly restarts or the screen flickers, power is one of the first things to check.
- Find the small wireless receiver and install fresh AAA batteries in both controllers according to their markings.
- Keep the remote control nearby so you can change the display input without leaving the setup area.
Set up the TV connection
- Insert the game stick into an HDMI port. If the port is crowded or hard to reach, use the supplied HDMI extension only when it gives the connector a more secure position.
- Connect USB power, then turn on the TV or monitor.
- Choose the same HDMI input on the display. A blank screen usually means the display is still showing a different input, not that the game stick needs a reset.
- Wait for the menu before opening a game. Once the menu appears, use the controller to confirm that left, right, up, down and confirm buttons respond.
Get the controllers ready
Keep the wireless receiver connected and unobstructed. If a controller does not react, first check the batteries and their polarity, then move the receiver into a clearer position and restart the device. Test the controls in the system menu before launching a game so that you do not confuse a pairing problem with a game-specific control layout.
Common first-session fixes
- No picture: confirm the HDMI input, reseat the HDMI connection, then check USB power.
- Picture but no controller input: check receiver placement, batteries and controller pairing before changing other settings.
- Image looks stretched or delayed: try the display's Game Mode or a simpler picture mode, and avoid unnecessary video processing.
